Student-Athlete of the Month
Johnny Rolando
Men's Tennis
The Brooklyn College Men’s Tennis Team advanced to the quarterfinal round of the CUNYAC Tournament for the second straight season. The play of Johnny Rolando has been a huge factor in the team’s success all season long, but that was particularly true during the month of April. Forced to play at the Number One position for much of April, Rolando stepped up his game and proved a be a true and capable leader.

In a tough non-conference match at Rutgers-Newark, the junior Physical Education major was a bright spot for the Bridges. He breezed through his singles match, winning a 6-2, 6-0 decision and teamed with Vesna Tan to cop an 8-4 triumph in their doubles flight.
Jenna Ferrara
Softball
The Brooklyn College Women’s Softball Team recently completed their run in the CUNYAC play-offs and one of the major factors behind their success was the play of junior shortstop Jenna Ferrara. The Brooklyn native batted .286 for the month and led the Bridges with nine runs batted in and a .500 slugging percentage. She helped the team get the month of April off to a rousing start. Against YorkCollege on April 1 Ferrara blasted a double and a triple, drove in three runs and helped BC earn a 17-9 triumph. A week later against Lehman, she went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Brooklyn rolled to a 10-5 win.

Head Coach Pete Grillo values the play of his veteran shortstop saying, “Jenna‘s power and clutch hitting make her a vital part of the team.” Ferrara, who played at JamesMadisonHigh School, is a Physical Education major.
