Brooklyn College Invitational 6K Women's Race Results
Bronx, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Cross Country Team looked to be in peak form on Sunday as they took first place in the Brooklyn College Invitational. The team scored 61 points, edging out Drew University who finished with 64. York College and Fashion Institute of Technology aslo had good showings as York scored 71 and FIT tallied 73.
Joanne Mundo (Fort Hamilton / Brooklyn, NY) and
Daisy Bugarin (Mountain View / Los Angeles, CA) led the way for BC, finishing 3rd and 4th overall, as they each ran their best times this fall. Mundo finished the race in 27:04, while Bugarin clocked in at 27:25.
Khrystyna Uhlitskykh (Laguardia / Brooklyn, NY) stepped up for the team as well, finishing 14th with a time of 29:44, while
Julie Davolos (Philadelphia CC / New York, NY) ran a great race as she placed 24th in 31:08.
Leah Wimpfheimer (Brien McMahon / Norwalk, NY) stepped up as the team's 5th scorer, finishing 28th with a time of 31:47.
This is the first time the BC Women have finished 1st place at a meet since they won the CUNYAC Championship last fall, a feat they will try to match in two weeks. Next Sunday will be the squad's final tune-up as they compete in the Hunter College Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park.
