Brooklyn, NY---Brooklyn College announced on Thursday, October 15th that a search will begin immediately to identify a new team name and mascot for the Intercollegiate Athletics program.

A committee made up of students, faculty and staff will make recommendations to President Gould by mid-November. 

The current nickname, “The Bridges”, has been the namesake of the program since 1994, replacing the former name, “The Kingsman”.

Director of Recreation, Intramurals and Intercollegiate Athletics Bruce Filosa, who has worked with Brooklyn College Athletics since 1981, is delighted about the decision to move forward, saying, “With the new athletic facilities and some of the other changes we have made in our program, I think it is time for a new identity.”
