On Tuesday, August 18th, Brooklyn College Athletics announced the hiring of Frank Izzo as an assistant coach on the softball team. Izzo will be joining first year head coach Bill Dumont as they look to transform the team into one of the top squads in the conference.

Since 1981, Izzo has coached girls and boys from age 5-17 in travel softball and baseball. In addition, he has conducted various youth and adult skill clinics as well as teaching private lessons. Also a former assistant with Coach Dumont at James Madison High School, Izzo is known as an excellent teacher of the game and an
excellent evaluator of talent.

Dumont, who is excited to once again be working with Izzo, said of his new assistant, “"Frank will be a valuable asset to the BC Softball program due to his knowledge of hitting and his patience to teach."

Izzo is also actively involved with Amity Youth Organization as the head of the field committee. He is engaged in maintaining playing fields and attending executive board meetings as a voting member. In recognition of his hard work and committment, the Amity Youth Organization fields have been designated as “Frank Izzo Stadium”.

A lifetime native of Brooklyn, Izzo was born and raised in Gravesend before later settling in nearby Madison. He married his childhood sweetheart Loraine, and has two children, Nicholas and Susan.
