Brooklyn, NY --- After finishing the 2010 regular season with an even overall record of 7-7 (3-5 CUNYAC), the Brooklyn College Men’s Tennis team will now look towards the post-season, as the #7 seeded Bulldogs will square off against the #2 seeded Hawks of Hunter College (12-3, 7-1 CUNYAC) in the Quarterfinals of the CUNYAC Men’s Tennis Championships.

Brooklyn will look to pull off an upset and avenge its loss to Hunter earlier this season, when the Hawks shut out the Bulldogs, 9-0, back on March 23rd.

This season, the Bulldogs have been led by senior captain Jeffrey Deng (Oakland Gardens, NY/New Utrecht), who has shown his versatility on the court, posting a 5-6 record playing in No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 singles. Newcomers Anthony Sideris (Astoria, NY/St. Demetrios), Matthew Micharlsen (Garden City, NY/Garden City) and Anthony Chan (Flushing, NY/Archbishop Molloy) have all made an immediate impact on the team in their rookie seasons. Sideris owns an unblemished 5-0 record in No. 4 and 5 singles, while Micharlsen has a 4-3 record playing a majority of the time at No. 3 singles. Playing in the No. 1 and 2 flights, Chan has recorded a 4-6 mark. Senior Johnny Rolando (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) has solidified the Brooklyn lineup as a mainstay at the No. 1 singles spot, while junior Vesna Tan (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) has been an all-around player for Brooklyn seeing action at No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 singles.

The quarterfinals match will take place this Saturday, May 1st, at the USTA-National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY at 10:30 am. Come out and support the team!
