Maresca and Morro Named CUNYAC All-Stars

Flushing, NY --- The City University of New York (CUNY) Athletic Conference has announced its 2010 Senior College Softball All-Stars, as Brooklyn College junior third basemen Danielle Maresca (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) and freshman outfielder Lisa Morro (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) have been named to the first and second team, respectively.

The duo of Maresca and Morro were vital in guiding the Bulldogs (16-16-1/7-7 CUNYAC) to their first winning season in four years, en route to earning the fifth seed in the conference championships.

Maresca helped power Brooklyn all year long, leading the team in hits batting .467 (42-for-90), runs scored (37), doubles (12), homeruns (5) and RBI (26). She also ranked near the top of the conference in numerous offensive categories, including batting average, slugging percentage, on base percentage, runs scored, hits, RBI, doubles, homeruns, total bases and walks. Nationally among the NCAA in Division III, Maresca ranked seventh in on base percentage, 30th in slugging percentage and 32nd in both runs per game and batting average.

Maresca was also named a CUNYAC First Team All-Star last season.

Making her collegiate debut, Morro had a breakout rookie campaign, as the freshman batted .343 on the season (23-for-67), with five doubles, one triple, five homeruns, while driving in 22 RBI, to go along with 20 runs scored. Morro also showed her determination, as she was able to return to action following an early season foot injury.
