Maresca Ranked Among National Leaders in NCAA Division III

Brooklyn, NY --- The NCAA Division III Softball Committee has released the final statistics of the 2010 season and Brooklyn College junior third basemen Danielle Maresca (Brooklyn, NY / James Madison) finished the year ranked among the national leaders in various statistical categories.

Out of 500 ranked student-athletes, Maresca placed eighth in on-base percentage (.583), 30th in slugging percentage (.804) and 44th in batting average (.467); while out of 200 ranked student-athletes, Maresca finished 46th in runs per game (1.09) and 81st in doubles per game (0.35).

For her efforts this season, Maresca was named to the 2010 CUNY Athletic Conference All-Star First Team, marking the second straight year that the Brooklyn native has been honored as a CUNYAC First Team All-Star.

Maresca played a vital role this year in guiding Brooklyn to the fifth seed in the 2010 CUNYAC Softball Championships, as well as earning a berth as the seventh seed in the 2010 ECAC Division III Metro Softball Championships, on the strength of the teams' overall season.

Along with her success on the field, Maresca was also an all-star in the classroom, as she was named the CUNYAC/Hospital for Special Surgery Scholar-Athlete of the Month, for the month of April. An Early Childhood Education major, Maresca currently holds a 3.6 cumulative grade point average.
