Bronx, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams concluded the 2012 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC)/Applebee's Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships held at the APEX Aquatic Center on the campus Lehman College earlier today, as the BC Men claimed fourth place with 301 points and the BC Women clinched fifth place with 271 points.
Baruch College swept the championships, with the Baruch Men recording 1,007 points and the Baruch Women registering 1,058 points.
On the men's side,
Wilson Lee,
Ka Ho Yeung and
Yury Nijnik came in seventh, eighth and ninth, with times of 25:15.88, 26:19.74 and 28:10.21, respectively, in the 1,650 Freestyle.
Coming in the 200-Yard Breaststroke,
James Marty,
Brian Clarke and
Patrick O'Leary-Gullo posted a fifth, sixth and seventh place finishes with times of 2:44.16, 2:49.33 and 2:53.92, respectively.
On the women's side,
Catherine Chan came in ninth place in the 200-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 3:23.65.
Valentina Monroy and
Jenny Lee both recorded top-10 finishes in the 200-Yard Butterly, as Monroy came in fifth with a time of 2:47.95, while Lee came in eighth with a time of 3:10.58.
The quartet of
Angela Redekop,
Tonia Jerrick,
Viktoriya Aranchiy and
Amanda Martino came in 10th place in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 6:20.78.
First year head coach Sean Kellar will look to build on the improvements from 2012, as he loses just one senior on the women's team and three seniors on the men's team.
