Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Office of Recreation, Intramurals & Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the hiring of
Patrick Horne as the head coach of the new BC Women's Soccer program.

Bruce Filosa. “We are looking forward to the upcoming season and the start of a new phase of BC Athletics.”
Coach Horne brings a plethora of coaching and playing experience, which will be vital to the success of growing the newly formed Women's Soccer team that will begin play with the 2012 season this Fall.
Horne most recently served as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Division II Concordia College in Bronxville, NY from 2007-2011. While at Concordia, Coach Horne recruited, trained and mentored student-athletes as part of developing the women's program.
Prior to Concordia, Horne spent one season (2006) as an Assistant Coach of the Women's Soccer team at Division II Molloy College in Rockville Center, NY, where he assisted in the overall preparation of the team, which culminated in Molloy making its first post-season appearance in the East Coast Conference.
Other collegiate coaching stints for Horne include Globe Institute of Technology (Men's Head Coach, 2002-2006), Southampton College (Men's Head Coach, 2001) and SUNY College at Old Westbury (Men's Head Coach, 1997-2000).
"It is a very rare occasion that one gets the opportunity to start a soccer program from scratch at a prestigious academic institution such as Brooklyn College," said Horne. "I intend to extend Brooklyn College's exemplary academic reputation to the new women's soccer program and look forward to the challenge of making the Bulldogs the most successful in the CUNYAC. Along with his extensive coaching resume at the college level, Coach Horne has also spent time coaching at the youth level. Coach Horne was the Head Coach of the LIJSL Boys Select Teams U-15, U-17, as well as the Head Coach of the Baldwin Eagles Girls U-14 through U-17. Most recently, Coach Horne has spent time as a Youth Coach for the New York Red Bulls of the MLS.
Prior to entering the coaching profession, Horne played professionally in both the North American Soccer League and the American Soccer League.
Horne received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville where he was a four-year member of the Men's Soccer team. He helped lead the team to a runner-up finish in the 1975 NCAA Division I Tournament.
Horne also has a Master of Science degree in Education from Alfred University and is a New York State certified English teacher. He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) B License.
