Brooklyn, NY – With the bulk of the men's and women's basketball schedules underway, excitement for the basketball teams on campus is electric. Four-time defending CUNY Athletic Conference champion Brooklyn Bulldog Cheerleaders have been an integral part of that excitement.
Head Coach
Tonika Simmons has her team performing an impressive display of aerial stunts and routines at top speed and full volume. The presentations add another element to Bulldog home games in the newly opened West Quad. Coach Simmons feels that the team adds something special to the games, “The cheerleaders definitely add a very collegiate feel to basketball games. It is exciting to have them there.” She continued, “The fans are constantly engaged, whether watching the game or cheerleaders during timeouts.”
“The cheerleaders add an additional level of excitement at our games,” says women's basketball head coach
Alex Lang. "They help to make Brooklyn College's home games the most exciting in the conference.”
Although the cheerleaders are a competition team, they feel their most important role is to cheer on their fellow Bulldogs. Coach Simmons explained, “We love to compete, but we know that our first priority is to cheer on our Bulldogs, that comes first and foremost.”
