In six December games, Amalea Sideris averaged a double-double, scoring 12.5 points per game and grabbing 11.8 rebounds per game. She recorded five consecutive double-doubles to close out 2007. Overall, she is the third-leading rebounder in the CUNYAC with 10.3 caroms per contest through 10 games. Sideris set a career high by grabbing 16 rebounds in a 65-53 loss at York College on December 4. She followed that up by scoring a career-best 16 points in a 74-66 loss to the College of Staten Island two days later. Against Old Westbury on December 29 Sideris bested that total, dropping 18 points in an 81-71 victory to set a new career-high.
Sideris has been one of the most durable Bridges this season, averaging better than 32 minutes per game. She has played all 40 minutes in three of the last five games. Head coach Alex Lang says that “Mia has improved immensely this season and is quickly emerging as one of the better inside players in the conference,” Sideris, a junior Physical Education major, attended St. Demetrios High School in Astoria, NY.
