Kim Konklewski Named May Brooklyn College Student-Athlete of the Month
Senior centerfielder Kim Konklewski has been a key catalyst to the Brooklyn College Softball team, which has made back-to-back appearances in the final day of the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Softball Championships, as well as back-to-back appearances in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Championships, over her two-year career
Konklewski came to BC after playing two seasons at Suffolk County Community College. During her time at Brooklyn, the Deer Park, NY native played in all 79 games in centerfield, making 78 starts; while posting a .397 (104-for-262) batting average, with 52 runs scored, 34 RBI and 23 stolen basses. Konklewski was also named a CUNYAC First Team All-Star twice (2012 and 2013).
During the month of May, Konklewski played in all five games, which included four games in the CUNYAC Championships and one game in the ECAC Championships.
Konklewski hit safely in four of the five games, en route to posting a .500 (8-for-16) batting average with three runs scored. She also recorded a .556 on base percentage and a .500 slugging percentage.
Konklewski had her best game of the month in an elimination game against #1 seed Baruch College in the conference championships on May 3rd. Konklewski went a perfect 4-for-4 with a run scored to help lead the #3 seeded Bulldogs to a 9-1 upset victory.
For her efforts, Kim Konklewski has been named the Brooklyn College Student-Athlete of the Month, for the month of May.
