Stephanie Caravello Named Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month for April
Senior first basemen Stephanie Caravello, a four-year member of the Brooklyn College Softball team, had a brilliant month during April for the Bulldogs.
Caravello helped to power the BC offense in guiding the team to 17-7 overall record in the month, including an 8-2 record in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play. Brooklyn would go on to secure the #2 seed in the upcoming conference championships and first round bye into the double elimination round for the first time in program history.
Playing in 23 of BC’s 24 games in the month and starting in 21 games, Caravello batted .458 (33-for-72) with 23 RBI and 23 runs scored, to go along with nine doubles, a triple and six walks. She also posted a .519 on base percentage and a .611 slugging percentage.
Caravello recorded a hit in 18 games in the month, including 11 multi-hit games. She had a seven-game hitting streak in the beginning of the month and is currently riding a six-game hitting streak.
She had her best performance of the month in a doubleheader sweep against borough foe St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn), combining to go 6-for-9 with five doubles, 11 RBI and five runs scored in the two games.
An Exercise Science major with a minor in Health & Nutrition, Caravello has also excelled off the diamond and in the classroom, boasting a near-perfect 3.96 GPA.
