Lorenzo Williams Named January Brooklyn College Male Student-Athlete of the Month
Junior forward Lorenzo Williams played a crucial role in helping lead the Brooklyn College Men’s Basketball team a 7-3 record in the month of January.
Over the 10 games in the month, Williams started in every contest, averaging a double-double with 18.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, to go along with 3.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He also logged in 34.7 minutes per game, while shooting 47.6% (70-for-147) from the field. The South Shore High School product registered a double-double in seven of the 10 games in January.
Williams started the month off on fire, posting four straight double-doubles. In the first game of the New Year at the College of Staten Island (1/3), Williams finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
He followed that up with three solid performances, recording 27 points and 13 rebounds against York College (1/6), 17 points and 11 rebounds against St. Joseph’s College –Brooklyn (1/8) and 19 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists against Baruch College (1/10).
For those games played between January 5th-11th, Williams was named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III National Player of the Week, the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Men's Division II/III Player of the Week, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Player of the Week, the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week and the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Player of the Week.
Williams had another streak of double-doubles later in the month, as the junior transfer finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds against The City College of New York (1/21), 27 points and 15 rebounds against John Jay College of Criminal Justice (1/23) and 12 points and 11 rebounds against Lehman College (1/28).
Williams nearly posted an eighth double-double in the month, as he concluded January with 17 points and nine rebounds against Staten Island (1/30).
