Kayla Hill Named Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month – March
Senior Kayla Hill lived up to her preseason accolades, as the third-year member of the Brooklyn College Softball team was named one of three City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Preseason Players of the Year. Hill shared the preseason honor with Staten Island’s Jacqueline Cautela and Hunter’s Meghan O’Shea.
In the opening month of the season, Hill led the Bulldogs to a 5-5 record in the month of March with bot her arm and her bat. In the circle, Hill logged in 27.1 innings making six appearances, four of which were starts. She allowed 22 runs (19 earned) on 32 hits, while walking eight batters and striking out 27. The Brooklyn native posted an even 2-2 record, along with a save, to go with a 4.87 ERA.
In the batter’s box, Hill hit an impressive .606 (20-for-33), while starting in nine games. She also drove in nine runs and scored 14. To go along with her solid batting average, the Pace University transfer also registered a .649 on base percentage and a .697 slugging percetange.
Overall on the month, Hill recorded a hit in eight of the nine games she played in, while also totaling six multi-hit games. She had a pair of four hit games against both Baruch and Lehman. She also drove in a month-high four runs, to go with a month-high four runs scored in the game against Baruch.
Hill has also excelled off the diamond and in the classroom, as the Business Administration major with a minor in Business Marketing boasts a 3.391 GPA.
