Kayla Hill Named May Brooklyn College Student-Athlete of the Month

Senior tri-captain pitcher/designated player Kayla Hill capped off her impressive three-year career on the Brooklyn College Softball team with a strong month of May.

Starting in all six games in May, Hill posted a .333 (7-for-21) batting average, to go along with a .333 on base percentage and a .381 slugging percentage. Additionally, she drove in two runs and scored five runs. Hill recorded a hit in five of the six games, including two multi-hit games.

To go along with her production in the batter’s box, Hill also contributed in the circle, as she made six appearances, including five starts. Overall, she tossed 29.2 innings of work, while allowing 18 runs (11 earned) on 34 hits and walking just three batters and striking out 18. She posted a 2.60 ERA with a 2-4 record.

Hill tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit, in a win over Hunter College on May 1st in BC’s first game of the double elimination round of the 2015 CUNYAC Championships. She also earned a win in the double elimination round of the ECAC Championships over The Sage Colleges on May 9th to eliminate the Gators. In that game, Hill allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits over seven complete innings, while striking out four.

A three-time CUNYAC First Team All-Star (2013, 2014 and 2015) and 2013 CUNYAC Player of the Year and 2013 ECAC First Team All-Star, Hill made an immediate impact to the Brooklyn lineup after transferring to BC from NCAA Division II Pace University.

Over her three-year career with the Bulldogs, Hill started in all 118 games played in, while posting a .367 batting average (148-for-403), with 74 RBI, 86 runs scored, 24 doubles, 10 triples and a home run. In the circle, she made 64 appearances, including 56 starts, while racking up 235 strikeouts, 43 complete games and 10 shutouts. She’s tallied 34 career victories with a 3.15 ERA.

The Business Administration major with a minor in Business Marketing has also excelled off the diamond and in the classroom, boasting a 3.44 GPA.
