In her third season, senior captain Suraya Maenhout has made a lasting imprint on the BrooklynÂ
College women’s tennis program. A City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Second Team All-Star last year,Â
Maenhout has continued her strong play into this season, posting an overall record of 7-5 in singles
play (3-2 in the CUNYAC) playing at #1 and #2 singles. She is also 6-6 in doubles (2-3 CUNYAC). Â
A native of the Netherlands, she started strong in the beginning of the month, winning a match at #1Â
doubles and singles, against CCNY.Â
For three consecutive matches in October, Maenhout was the only Bulldog to win matches againstÂ
St. Joseph’s (L.I.), Hunter, and Lehman College.Â
Maenhout was named a First-Team CUNYAC All-Star for the second consecutive year.Â
Maenhout would again win a pair of matches against Kean University on October 19th, winning inÂ
straight sets at #2 singles and teaming up Ievgeniia Kostenko to win 8-1 at #1 doubles.Â
Suraya finished the month with a solid performance in the CUNYAC quarterfinals facing conferenceÂ
foe Lehman College. Maenhout again teamed up with Kostenko, defeating their opponents in #1Â
doubles, outscoring the Lehman duo 8-1. She also won her singles (#2) matches in straight sets as well.
