Among the reasons for the early season success of the Brooklyn College Women’s Basketball Team has been the play of a group of talented newcomers. One of the fresh faces providing offensive power to the Bridges line-up at the start of the season has been center Justine O’Callahan. The 5-10 center posted a scoring average of 8.7 points per game in six December contests. She is also the squad’s second-leading rebounder, collecting 6.8 caroms per contest. O’Callahan collected a double-double in an 84-73 loss to Staten Island on December 4th, Scoring 10 points and grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds. In the team’s most recent game, a thrilling 90-89 triumph over SUNY Old Westbury, the freshman Exercise Science major made her presence felt with a career-high 18 points and seven boards. Her head coach Alex Lang has been impressed with the play of O’Callahan, saying that she “has been one of our most consistent players this year and has been a major factor in our improved play this season.”
