Arvind Badhey does not appear to be a freshman on the Men’s Cross Country Team due to the fact that he has been the team’s most impressive runner over the first month of the season. Arvind comes to Brooklyn an accomplished runner out of high school which is a reason why his transition to college has been so smooth. In his first meet of the season, the Baruch College Invitational 8K run on September 9th, Arvind won his first collegiate medal, finishing 7th overall with a time of 33:27. At the Hunter College Developmental 8K Race on September 16th, Arvind finished 5th overall, with a time of 32:09.5, cutting down over a minute on his first race. September 23rd saw another improvement in Arvind’s time as he ran a 31:35 at the Queensborough College Invitational 8K, winning another medal while finishing 5th overall. At the Lehman College Invitational 8K on September 30th, Arvind saw his stiffest competition as 168 runners from over 20 colleges attended the meet. Arvind stepped up and ran his best time of his young career, 31:15, while finishing 19th overall. In each of the team’s four meets Arvind has been the top finisher and has bettered his time, a great accomplishment for a rookie runner. A student in Brooklyn College’s ultra-competitive BA-MD program, Arvind is still undecided on a major. The Syosset High School product hopes to be one of the top runners at this year’s CUNYAC Championships.
