Thomas Guerin takes the Student-Athlete of the Month Award for the month of January for his steady shooting and timely play throughout the month. The 6’1” guard helped the team complete a month in which they went 9-2 and finished on a nine game winning streak.
Guerin, a former CUNYAC Rookie of the Year, is now in his senior season on the team. While never the headliner for the team, his career is highlighted with smart plays and timely baskets.
His numbers don’t astound, but he is an extremely efficient shooter and shows up huge at big moments. On the month, Guerin averaged 9.2 points, shooting 50% from the field and hitting 36% of his three point attempts. He also added 3.2 assists per contest.
Guerin has especially shined in big moments. Against Widener, he calmly hit a mid-range jumper as time expired to take the 67-65 win. In the biggest game of the season to date against conference foe Baruch College, he shot 6-10 and hit three of his four three point attempts, scoring 19 points on the game, his highest of the season.
Of Guerin, Head Coach Steve Podias says, “Tommy has played and conducted himself as a true senior leader on this team both on and off the court. In his last month, he has played his best basketball in our conference games and added the game winning shot against Widener.”
Guerin is a physical education major.
