Senior guard/forward Elisha Raiford posted a solid individual month for the Brooklyn College Women’s Basketball team in January, helping to guide the Bulldogs to a 5-4 overall record during the month, while going 5-2 in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC). The Bulldogs are currently 11-8 overall on the season, 7-2 in the conference, good for first place in the South Division.
Raiford had her best game of the month on Friday, January 21st against CUNYAC rival Baruch College, as she recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in a heartbreaking defeat to the Bearcats, 73-72.
Earlier in the month, back on Saturday, January 8th, Raiford collected a game-best 11 rebounds to go with eight points in a 67-57 victory over conference division rival College of Staten Island. She finished the month with a team-high 16 points in a 77-53 win against another conference rival, City College of New York on Saturday, January 29th.
For the month, Raiford played in all nine games for BC in January, while making eight starts. She averaged 8.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals for the Bulldogs during the month.
Raiford currently ranks 26th in the CUNYAC in scoring (8.5 ppg), 13th in the conference in rebounding (7.6 rpg), third in the league in field goal percentage shooting (46.3%/63-for-136) and is tied for seventh in steals (2.3 spg).
For her efforts, Raiford has been named the Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month, for the month of January, 2011.
