Amil John Named Brooklyn College Male Student-Athlete of the Month - November
Brooklyn College senior guard Amil John played a major role in helping the BC Men’s Basketball team get off to its 4-1 overall record during the first month of the season, including going 1-0 in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC).
In the season opener on the road at Fairleigh Dickinson – College at Florham on November 15th, John helped lead the Bulldogs to a 68-59 victory totaling 25 points on 8-for-14 (57.1%) shooting from the field and from the free throw line, to go along with six rebounds, six steals and three assists, while playing in all 40 minutes.
John once again played the entire 40 minutes in a 58-45 win over St. John Fisher College in the 2011 Castle Classic hosted by Manhattanville College on November 19th. He tallied a double-double in the game with 14 points and 11 rebounds, to go with two assists and three steals.
In BC’s home opener on November 22nd against the SUNY College at Old Westbury, John helped Brooklyn breeze past the Panthers, 101-86, totaling 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Finally, in the Bulldogs 84-76 victory over reigning CUNYAC champion and borough rival, Medgar Evers College, John notched his second double-double of the month with 20 points and 10 rebounds, to go with three assists and three steals.
For the month, John averaged 16.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.4 steals per game, while playing in 39.4 minutes per contest. He also leads the team in rebounds, assists and steals and is second on the team in scoring.
For his efforts, John has been named the BC Male Student Athlete of the Month, for the month of November.
