Brooklyn College senior guard Lauren Plagainos, a second-year member of the BC Women’s Basketball program, led by example during the month of January, which saw the Bulldogs post a 9-1 record, including going a perfect 7-0 in conference games.

Plagainos played in all 10 games during the month, while making nine starts, averaging a team-best 11.9 points per game, to go along with 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.4 assists per game. She also shot 42.3% (44-104) from the field, including going 27-for-67 (40.3%) from beyond the arc, while averaging 28.3 minutes per game.

Plagainos scored in double figures in six games in January, while scoring over 20 points on two occasions.

Coming in a 75-50 win over Albertus Magnus College on January 11th, Plagainos scored a month-high of 21 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field, including hitting 4-of-7 from three.

Plagainos would notch 21 points for the second time in the month on January 18th, as BC defeated Lehman College 59-54. The Staten Island native shot 7-for-13 from the field, while going 6-for-11 from downtown.

With games played through January 29th, Plagainos ranks 44th in the country in three-point field goals per game and 69th in the country in three-point field goal percentage.

For her efforts, Plagainos has been named the Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month, for the month of January.
