Gene Tom Named Brooklyn College Male Student-Athlete of the Month for March
Senior setter Gene Tom has provided solid leadership all season long for the Brooklyn College Men’s Volleyball team.
Tom helped pace the Bulldogs’ offense throughout the month of March, which saw BC post an even 4-4 record in the month. In those eight games, Tom appeared in all 26 sets that were played in March, racking up 192 assists for a 7.38 assists-per-set average, to go along with 19 digs and 12 service aces.
Within the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), Tom ranks third in assists and 12th in service aces.
Nationally in all of Division III, Tom ranks 32nd in assists and 44th in aces.
Tom had his best game of the month on March 27th against conference rival the City College of New York (CCNY), helping lead BC to a 3-1 come-from-behind win with 42 assists, six digs and four service aces.
He also had a solid performance in a 3-0 straight sets win over league and borough foe Medgar Evers College on March 22nd, as Tom dished out 37 assists.
Other notable games for Tom came on March 3rd and 6th against York College and John Jay College of Criminal Justice, as he would tally 27 assists in both matches.
Coming against Sarah Lawrence College on March 10th, Tom helped lead the Bulldogs to another straight sets win, 3-0, with 19 assists and five service aces.
For his efforts during the month of March, Gene Tom has been named the Brooklyn College Male Student-Athlete of the Month.
