Jillian Escobar Named Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month for October
Junior Jillian Escobar had a superb individual month of October for the Brooklyn College Women’s Volleyball team. Her play led to two key City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) victories during the month, as the Bulldogs finished the season in fifth place in the conference.
During the month of October, Escobar played in all 10 games in the month, as she totaled 88 kills, 80 digs and 37 aces, all team-highs.
Coming in a 3-0 win over the College of Staten Island on October 8th, Escobar led the way with a double-double, recording 10 kills and 15 digs, to go along with six service aces.
Escobar would tally another double-double on October 16th in a heart-breaking 3-2 loss against the City College of New York, as she registered 19 kills and 12 digs.
Escobar’s serving was vital in Brooklyn’s 3-1 victory against John Jay College of Criminal Justice, as the Queens Village, NY native served up 12 aces, to go along with 12 digs and six kills.
Nationally in all of Division III, Escobar ranks second in the country in aces-per-set.
For her efforts, Escobar has been named the Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month, for the month of October 2012.
