Brittany Bowen Named Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month - January
Senior guard Brittany Bowen played a vital role in the Bulldogs’ 8-2 overall record, including going 7-1 in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) during the month of January for the Brooklyn College Women’s Basketball team.
Bowen, who transferred to BC following three seasons at the University of South Carolina Aiken, an NCAA Division II institution, started in all 10 games for BC in January, averaging 14.8 points per game on 44.7% (51-144) shooting from the field, 42.4% (28-66) from beyond the arc and 81.8% (18-22) from the free throw line. The Ellicott City, Maryland native also averaged 2.9 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 1.5 assists per game, while logging in 26.6 minutes per contest.
Bowen scored in double figures in seven of the 10 games and scored over 20 points in two games.
Coming against borough rival St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) on January 22nd, Bowen scored a game and season-high 29 points shooting 50.0% (9-18) from the field, while converting 4-of-12 (33.3%) from three. She was also a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe and added four steals and three assists to her stat line.
Coming against conference rival College of Staten Island on January 25th, Bowen netted a game-high 23 points, to go with three steals.
For her performances against St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn) and CSI, Bowen was named the CUNYAC/Con Edison and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, for the week ending January 27th.
For her efforts, Brittany Bowen has been named the BC Female Student-Athlete of the Month, for the month of January.
