Amanda Bisz Named Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month – March
Brooklyn junior Amanda Bisz, a third basemen and pitcher on the on the BC Softball team, has made an immediate impact to the squad helping to lead the club to an 11-4 mark in the opening month of the season.
Bisz, a transfer from Nassau Community College, where she played two seasons on the softball team, has contributed with her bat and her arm, as the New Hyde Park, NY native posted a .391 batting average (18-for-46), to go along with 13 RBI and 10 runs scored; and in the circle she registered a 4-1 record with one save, to go along with a 2.33 ERA and 32 strikeouts over 33 innings pitched. She also held batters to a .179 batting average.
Her 18 hits in the month tied her for second on the team, while her four doubles in the month also tied her for second on the team. She tied for the team-lead in RBI and ranked sixth on the team in runs scored. Bisz also recorded a .478 slugging percentage and a .453 on base percentage, and recorded at least one hit in 11 of 15 games.
Bisz had her best offensive performance in a doubleheader sweep over the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice (4-0 and 9-4) on March 27th, when she combined to go 4-for-7 with five RBI and two runs scored. She also picked up the win in game two, allowing four runs on six hits, while walking two and striking out five over seven innings of work.
Bisz also picked up a hard earned save in a 12-8 win over Farmingdale State College on March 30th. Biz, who came into the game with runners on first and second and no one out, struck out the first batter she faced. After walking the next batter, which loaded the bases, Bisz would strike out the next two batters she faced to end the game.
For her efforts, Bisz has been named the March Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month.
