Kayla Hill Named Brooklyn College Female Student Athlete of the Month
Sophomore Kayla Hill has been a vital member of the 2013 Brooklyn College Softball team, which posted an even 10-10 record in the month of April. Hill played a crucial role in helping the Bulldogs post a 21-14 overall record during the regular season, including an 8-4 mark in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), to secure the #3 seed in the upcoming CUNYAC Softball Championships, which begin on May 1st.
Hill, a transfer from NCAA Division II Pace University, has made an immediate impact to the BC Softball program in her first season with both her bat and her arm.
Playing in 18 of BC’s 20 games in the month of April, Hill posted a .383 (23-for-60) batting average, to go along with five RBI and 12 runs scored. She also recorded a .403 on base percentage and a .533 slugging percentage. She ranked second on the team in hits and third in runs scored in April.
Hill had seven games with at least two hits, highlighted by a perfect 4-for-4 performance against NYU-Poly on April 3rd.
To go along with her stellar play at the plate, Hill also contributed in the circle, posting a 5-3 record with a 2.92 ERA. She made nine starts in the month, striking out 30 batters in 50.1 innings pitched.
Hill picked up a key win against CUNYAC rival Hunter College on April 17th, allowing just one run on four hits, while walking two and striking out two over seven solid innings.
Hill struck out a month-high seven batters twice, in wins over borough foe St. Joseph’s College - Brooklyn (April 19th) and conference rival York College (April 22nd).
Hill was also named the CUNYAC Pitcher of the Week, for the week ending April 21st.
For her efforts during the month of April, Kayla Hill has been named the Brooklyn College Female Student Athlete of the Month.
