Brooklyn Women Lose Heartbreaker To Purchase, 5-4

Brooklyn, NY---The BC Women's Tennis Team got edged out at home on Monday evening, losing 5-4 to SUNY Purchase.

With the match knotted at four matches a piece, Purchase's Jen Cruttenden defeated Kate Steckiewicz (Jadwiga Borzecka/Brooklyn, NY) 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at #6 singles to earn her squad the victory.

Brooklyn dominated the top of the lineup as Ruth Perez (EBC Bushwick/Brooklyn, NY) knocked off Margo Vahoy 6-2, 6-1 at #1 singles, Alina Binder (Flatbush Yeshiva/Brooklyn, NY) downed Inna Koraseva, 7-5, 6-2 in her #2 singles match and Joy Rotstein (Ezra Academy/Brooklyn, NY) defeated Nicloe Wiklor 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 at #3 singles.

Perez and Binder teamed up to defeat Vanhoy and Sara Loe, 8-6, at #1 doubles.

Purchase's Tatyana de Muns defeated Suzana Sula (St. Saviour/Staten Island, NY) 6-0, 6-1 in a #4 singles match and Kernita Sylvester knocked off Svetlana Khvatikova (Youth DARES/Brooklyn, NY), 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at #5 singles.

Wiklor and de Muns teamed up to defeat Rotstein and Sula at #2 doubles, 8-1 and Koraseva and Nina-Marie Danielle teamed up to defeat Khvatikova and Steckiewicz by the same score.

Brooklyn will look to shake of the loss in pursuit of their 5th straight CUNYAC win as they battle Baruch Tuesday at the National Tennis Center.
