Women's Volleyball Splits At Kean Tournament, Burton Named To All-Tournament Team

Union, NJ---The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball Team (6-15) went 2-2 over the weekend as they competed in the Kean University Tournament.  The team lost matches to Kean (3-0) & Mount Saint Vincent (3-1), while defeating Purchase College twice (3-0, 3-0).

Brooklyn defeated Purchase 30-19, 30-24, 31-29 on Friday to begin the weekend.  Jasmine Thimothe (Samuel J. Tilden/Brooklyn, NY) smashed 11 kills, while Kerry-Ann Burton (Harry S. Truman/Bronx, NY) notched 9 kills of her own.

During Friday's second match, BC took on the host school Kean, and could not put it all together as they took a 30-28, 30-24, 30-15 loss.  Burton was a bright spot for the team as she notched 7 kills.

On Saturday, Brooklyn played a tough match against Mount Saint Vincent, but could not pull out the win as they lost in four games.  Burton had a team-high 6 kills while Daphne Brunet (Willi-Graf/Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with 5 kills.

In the weekend's final match on Saturday, Brooklyn faced Purchase for the second time in two days and the match ended with the same result, a three-game sweep for Brooklyn, who won, 30-20, 30-23, 30-24.  Burton again led the team with 6 kills.

Kerry-Ann Burton was honored after the conclusion of the tournament as she was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Up next for the BC Women will be their final conference match of the season, a 7 pm road match versus John Jay on Tuesday, October 23rd.
