Box Score

Old Westbury, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball Team (1-1) defeated Greensboro College (0-2) in the Consolation game of the Old Westbury Tournament on Sunday afternoon by the score of 84-77.

The win was the 110th in the career of Head Coach Steve Podias, who passed Mark Reiner for the most in the history of the Brooklyn College Men's Basketball Program.

“It's a privilege to be connected to the great players, coaches and athletics personnel that have affected my life in a truly positive way,” said Podias, who has led Brooklyn College since 1995. “My goal is to continue to strive for excellence in making our program the best it can be,” continued Podias. Podias is one of the few coaches to surpass the 100-win plateau at both the high school and college levels. Prior to his arrival at Brooklyn College, Podias coached at Yeshiva University High School, compiling a 101-20 record from 1989-1994, winning two MYHSAL League Championships (1990 and 1992).

Podias has been a staple at Brooklyn College as the school's men's basketball coach and has served double-duty as the NCAA Liaison, Scheduling Coordinator and most recently, Men's Cross Country Coach.

Director of Athletics Bruce Filosa, delighted with the accomplishment, said, “Coach Podias has worked extremely hard toward this accomplishment. This record is a testament to his commitment and ability. I look forward to seeing him continue to develop the men's basketball program.”
