Baruch Gets By Bridges, 3-1

Staten Island, NY---Brooklyn College (0-4, 0-2 CUNYAC) dropped a 3-1 decision to conference foe Baruch College (1-6, 1-1 CUNYAC) on Saturday at the College of Staten Island.

The game was scoreless until the 22nd minute when Baruch's Aykan Yurdacan (Abraham Lincoln/Istanbul, Turkey) took a cross from Camilo Reyes (Woodlands/Bogota, Colombia) and tapped it in to give his team a 1-0 advantage.

Baruch got two more goals in the half as Caner Yilmaz (Istanbul-Turkey/Queens, NY) Edgar Acero (Greenport/Bogota, Colombia) each tallied scores, and Baruch entered the half with a 3-0 lead.

Brooklyn came out charged in the second half as Vasilios Mantagas (James Madison/Brooklyn, NY) scored on a breakaway during the 49th minute. Mantagas and Elis Llagami each had chances later in the half but could not convert as the half saw no more offense.

Scott Geller (Morris Knolls/New York, NY) got his first start in goal and played admirably, notching 13 saves and shutting out Baruch in the 2nd half.

BC will return to action on Monday as they travel to New Jersey to face Farleigh Dickinson University Florham at 5:00 pm.
