Brooklyn, NY---The BC Women moved to 3-0 (3-0 CUNYAC) on the season on Tuesday as they knocked off conference rival Staten Island 8-1.
The win keeps the squad undefeated on the season and in a virtual tie with Hunter College (4-0) for first place in the CUNYAC Standings, as both teams remain undefeated.
Brooklyn swept the three doubles matches as Alina Binder (Flatbush Yeshiva/Brooklyn, NY) and Ruth Perez (EBC Bushwick/Brooklyn, NY) set the pace with an 8-4 victory over Gabriella Villaruel (Curtis/Staten Island, NY) and Camille Dubois (IPAG/Nice, France) at the #1 flight.
Joy Rotstein and Suzana Sula combined to win their #2 doubles match, 8-1, over Fabiana Iannuzzi and Mallory Furia. Svetlana Khvatikova and Katarzyna Steckiewicz , the reigning CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, defeated Aing Li and Jessamyn Lidasan at #3 doubles, 8-0.
Brooklyn won five of their six singles matches in easy fashion. Perez, playing #1 singles, defeated Villaruel 6-2, 6-2. Rotstein won her #3 match, 6-0, 6-1 over Iannuzzi. Sula knocked off Furia 6-1, 6-0 at #4 singles. Khvatikova downed Li easily at #5 singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Steckiewicz shutout Lidasan, 6-0, 6-0.
In the days lone close match, CSI's Dubois, defeated Alina Binder, 2-6, 6-3, 11-9, in their #2 singles match.
Brooklyn will travel to Kean on Wednesday, September 26th for a 4:00 pm match.
