Brooklyn Women Lose To First Place Baruch

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women (5-10, 1-5 CUNYAC) were unable to knock off Baruch (11-5; 6-0 CUNYAC) on Saturday as they fell, 90-47.

Baruch scored the first eight points of the game, and jumped out to a 21-5 edge just four minutes into play.  The Bearcats, showing the form that has allowed them to win 31 consecutive CUNYAC regular season contests, put up 52 first half points.  BC played tough, forcing 17 Bearcat turnover in the opening stanza.

Shooting just 20 percent (6 for 30) in the second half, the Bridges were not able to make up much ground.  Baruch dominated the boards in the game, collecting a season-high 76 caroms in the contest.

Brooklyn was led by Amalea Sideris (St. Demetrios / Astoria, NY) who scored 16 points before fouling out in 29 minutes of play.  Amber Gordon (Bishop Loughlin / Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with 13 points of her own. Christina McDonnell (Staten Island Tech / Staten Island, NY) added nine points, while Joelle Laurenceau (Midwood / Brooklyn, NY) led the squad with eight rebounds.

Chiresse Paradise (Rich Central / Chicago, IL), who scored 16 points was one of four Bearcats in double figures. Nyesha Tyler-Moore (Rich Central / Chicago, IL) had 15 points and Kaleia Davis (Herbert H. Lehman / Bronx, NY) added 13 points and 10 boards.  Freshman Monique Salmon (Truman / Bronx, NY) finished the game just shy of a triple-double, scoring 10 points, collecting 12 rebounds, and dishing out nine assists.

Brooklyn will take to the road this week for a pair of conference games, playing at defending CUNYAC Champion Lehman on Wednesday night, and at the New York City College of Technology on Friday night.
