Brooklyn Men Cruise Past Berkeley, 89-63

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men (10-4) got double-figure scoring from each of their five starters on Monday night as they won their second consecutive game, a 89-63 decision over Berkeley College(4-10).

The Bridges opened the game on a 16-4 run, with half of the points coming from Daniel Nisbett (Petrides / Staten Island, NY).  Leading the entire game, Brooklyn extended their lead to 18 points just before the halftime break on a Reginald Posey (Monsignor Scanlon / Bronx, NY) lay-up.

The second half opened with the Bridges exploding on a 17-4 run, widening the gap to 29 points, 61-32.  Berkeley could get no closer than 15 points down the stretch, as Brooklyn shot better than 50 percent from the floor and forced 27 turnovers in the dominating victory.

The win was a total team effort for Head Coach Steve Podias' squad. Nisbett led all scorers with 19 points, while nabbing four steals in 28 minutes of play. Sean Weismuller (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) scored 16 points and collected nine caroms while freshman frontcourt mate Enes Purisic (William C. Bryant / Astoria, NY) had one of his best all-around games, notching 11 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and four assists.

Corey McFarlane (Transit Tech / Brooklyn, NY) and Thomas Guerin (St. Edmund Prep / Brooklyn, NY) each chipped in with 11, while McFarlane had a game-high 10 boards.  Posey scored four points off the bench and Brian Shea (St. Edmund Prep / Brooklyn, NY) added five in limited action.

Jazmel Blake (Adlai Stevenson/Bronx, NY) led Berkeley with 17 points and eight boards on the night.

Brooklyn will resume conference play on Wednesday as they take on Lehman in the first half of a road doubleheader.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
