Brooklyn, NY---The BC Women (5-15, 1-9 CUNYAC) dropped a non-conference game on Monday, losing to visiting Albertus Magnus College (7-9), 69-50.
Jaclyn Cavalcante (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) scored the first six points of the game for Brooklyn College, who opened on a 8-2 run. The Falcons stormed back, knotting the game at 9-9 when Laura Stokes (Chase Collegiate / Prospect, CT) drained a three-pointer. Christina McDonnell (Staten Island Tech / Staten Island, NY) then answered with a triple of her own, allowing BC to retake the lead six minutes into the period. With the game tied a 14-14 moments later, Nikki McClease (Wilbur Cross / New Haven, CT) would hit a jumper to start a 17-4 rally. Albertus Magnus led by 13 points with three minutes to play in the half and would take a 34-23 lead into the locker room.
The Falcons opened the second half by pushing the lead to 15 points as McClease scored on the first two possessions of the period. Joelle Laurenceau (Midwood / Brooklyn, NY) would grab an offensive board and convert the second chance opportunity pulling the Bridges back to within 46-37 midway through the stanza. BC could get no closer as Albertus Magnus embarked on a 13-0 run over the next four minutes to take a commanding 22 point lead.
Cavalcante paced the Bridges by netting 11 points, swiping four steals, and dishing out five assists. Laurenceau finished just shy of a double-double, registering nine points and 10 caroms.
Brooklyn will resume conference play on Saturday as they travel to Staten Island for a 3:00 pm tip.
