Brooklyn Men Hand Hunter Their First CUNYAC Loss, 94-75

Brooklyn, NY---Brooklyn College (7-3, 3-1 CUNYAC) had five players in double-figures for the second consecutive game as they handed Hunter College (6-5, 3-1 CUNYAC) their first conference loss, 94-75.

The Bridges opened the game on an impressive 21-6 run and never looked back.  Sophomore guard Thomas Guerin (St. Edmund Prep / Brooklyn, NY) posted eight points and a pair of assists in the first six minutes of the game as BC built a sizeable lead.  A Marlon Thornton (Richmond Hill / Brooklyn, NY) three-pointer stretched the cushion to 21 points, at 45-24.  The Hawks were able to put together a late rally in the first half, scoring 14 consecutive points, cutting the gap to seven.  Guerin nailed a trifecta as the first half ended, allowing BC to take a ten point edge into the locker room.

The Hawks would twice again reduce the deficit to sevn points early in the second half.  With Brooklyn on top 56-49 just five minutes into the half, Daniel Nisbett (Petrides / Staten Island, NY) drained a trifecta, starting a 16-2 BC run that put the game out of reach.  Hunter could get no closer than 13 points for the remainder of the contest.

The Bridges excelled on both ends of the floor in this game.  Shooting a season-high 54.5 percent from the floor, Brooklyn also hit more than half of their three-point tries.  Defensively, BC forced 24 Hunter turnovers.  The Hawks, previously unbeaten in CUNYAC play,were significantly out-rebounded by the Bridges.

Individually, Nisbett led all scorers as he dropped 22 points on 8 of 11 from the field, including hitting three of his four attempts from three-point range.  Guerin had great all-around game as well, scoring 18 points on 7 for 10 from the field and a perfect three of three from the line.  Guerin also notched five assists in 32 minutes. Corey McFarlane (Transit Tech / Brooklyn, NY) was a major contributor as well, scoring 18 points while dishing out eight assists and collecting six steals.

Frantz Millien (North Rockland / Rockland, NY) led Hunter with 20 points and six rebounds.

Brooklyn will travel to Centenary on Monday, January 7th for a 7:30 tip.
