Box Score
Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women (5-9, 1-4 CUNYAC) were not able to conjure up enough offense to get a win on Wednesday night as they fell to conference opponent John Jay (3-11, 1-4 CUNYAC).
The first half was a back and forth affair, featuring five ties and six lead changes.  Neither team could stretch the margin to more than four points, and the Bridges went into the locker room up by two, 25-23.  Christina McDonnell (Staten Island Tech / Staten Island, NY) converted on 9 of 11 first-half free throws for BC.  More than half of John Jay's opening-stanza points were scored by Parker Griffin (Bishop Kearney / Brooklyn, NY).  Griffin dropped 12 points in the first, but scored only two more points in the game.
Brooklyn would lead for the first ten minutes of the second half, at one point stretching the lead to five points on an Amber Gordon (Bishop Loughlin / Brooklyn, NY) lay-up.   Moments later, an 11-0 Bloodhound rally turned a four-point deficit into a seven-point cushion.  Ganimete Ukperaj (John F. Kennedy / Bellmore, NY) and Dominique Grice (North Babylon, North Babylon, NY)  scored all 11 points during this stretch.
The Bridges would pull to within five points, at 51-46 on a free throw from Joelle Laurenceau (Midwood / Brooklyn, NY) with just over two minutes remaining.  Grice and Parker hit back-to-back jumpers for John Jay, stretching the lead to nine points for the first time in the game.  A McDonnell trifecta left BC down by six in the final minute and a pair of fouls shots from Grice sealed the victory for the Bloodhounds.
Both teams had rough shooting nights as John Jay shot 35% from the field and Brooklyn shot 22%.  Brooklyn was able to get to the free throw line 44 times, converting on 28, but only shot 1 for 11 from behind the arc and was out-rebounded, 49-36. Ukperaj led John Jay with 19 points, including 3 of 5 from long distance. Grice had 18 points and five assists, while Griffin posted a double-double (14 points and 13 rebounds.
