Bridges and Cougars Battle to 1-1 Tie

Box Score

Brooklyn, NY --- Brooklyn College (4-6-2, 2-2-2 CUNYAC) and Medgar Evers College (3-12-1, 2-3-1 CUNYAC) battled to a 1-1 tie in a hard-fought, physical game on Saturday afternoon.

The teams battled in the first half, combining for 15 total shots but no goals were scored in the first 45 minutes of play. The same script played out in the early going of the second half.  In the game's 57th minute, Ariel Jaworowski (International High School at Prospect Heights / Brooklyn, NY) received a throw-in from the far touch line and booted a 25-yard kick into the bottom-right corner of the goal.  The 1-0 Brooklyn advantage proved to be short-lived.  In the 79th minute, Travis Pinnock (Garvey Maceo / Trinidad) played a rebound from a missed shot into the net to knot the score at 1-1.

Both teams had chances to take a lead in the final ten minutes of regulation, but Brooklyn goalie Mike Conway (Xaverian / Brooklyn, NY) and his counterpart John  Ajirotutu (Canarsie / Brooklyn, NY) of Medgar Evers each turned away a potential game-winner.

The game then continued through two 10-minute overtime periods with no further scoring.

The Bridges next play on Monday afternoon, traveling to New Jersey City University for 3:00 pm non-conference game.
