Bridges Drop Home Opener to NJCU

Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball Team (0-3) opened their 2008 home season by suffering a setback at the hands of New Jersey City University (3-3) three games to one game.

The Bridges played well in the first game, using a late rally to pull within three points at 22-19.  The Gothic Knights followed that spurt with a rally of their own, scoring eight of the last 11 points to take the opener by the score of 30-23. BC built on the momentum from the first game, and took the second by a count of 30-23.  Game three was tied at 16, before senior David Mayerson (Lawrence / North Woodmere, NY) got hurt and NJCU went on for the 3-1 victory.

Kwan Tong Ma (New Utrecht / Brooklyn, NY) and Mayerson had 15 and 12 kills respectively, leading the Bridges attack.  Ferdi Ozsoy (Park West / Sunnyside, NY) added a team-high 29 assists and a pair of service aces.

The Bridges take to the road on Tuesday evening when play at CUNYAC rival the New York City College of Technology. The match will be the CUNYAC opener for both teams. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 pm in the Klitgord Gymnasium.
