Staten Island, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball Team (17-5, 8-3 CUNYAC) moved back into a first place tie in the CUNYAC South Division as they defeated CSI (12-9, 8-3 CUNYAC) on Saturday.

Richard Jean-Baptiste (St. John's Prep / Queens, NY) hit a pair of threes in the opening minute, establishing a 6-0 lead for the Bridges. A Robert Mesjasz (St. Peter's / Staten Island, NY) triple gave CSI a one-point lead, 14-13, just over five minutes into the game.  Over the next nine minutes, the game swung back and forth, with neither team grabbing an advantage of more than four points.  With Staten Island clinging to a one point lead, 28-27, a Brain Amenieros (Xaverian / Staten Island, NY) steal turned into a Mesjasz lay-up.  The Dolphins would close the half on a 15-4 run and take a 43-31 lead into the locker room.

A 10-2 run to begin the second half gave CSI a 20-point cushion at 53-33, and the Dolphins still led by 13 at 70-57 with seven minutes to play.  The Bridges then scored eight straight points, keyed by a three-point play from Sean Weismuller (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) to pull to within five points.  Corey McFarlane (Transit Tech / Brooklyn, NY)  nailed a pair of foul shots and Jean-Baptiste dialed in from long distance to knot the game at 77-77 with 2:40 left to play.  A minute later, a lay-up by Thomas Guerin (St. Edmund Prep / Brooklyn, NY) put BC up for good. The Brooklyn defense would force four missed field goals and a pair of turnovers in the Dolphins final eight possessions.  BC would convert 11 of 12 free throws in final 1:26 to seal the victory.

Jean-Baptiste had a superb performance for the Bridges, dropping 32 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and collecting three steals. The backcourt combo of McFarlane and Guerin added 23 points and combined for 12 assists against just two turnovers.  Mesjasz scored 25 points to lead CSI in defeat.
