Box Score

The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball Team improved to 19-5 on the season as they knocked off Medgar Evers College (1-24, 0-13 CUNYAC) 80-66 on Wednesday evening at the Roosevelt Gymnasium. With tonight's win, Brooklyn clinched a home playoff game in the CUNYAC Quarterfinals that will take place on February 16th.

Less than five minutes into the game, the Bridges were enjoying an 18-8 advantage.  The lead would be pushed to 15 points, 29-14, on a Richard Jean-Baptiste (St. John's Prep / Queens, NY) three-pointer at the 12:52 mark.  Medgar Evers fought back, embarking on an 11-2 run over the next five minutes to cut into the Brooklyn lead.  A 12-7 rally to close the period gave the Maroon and White a 41-32 halftime lead.

The Cougars outscored Brooklyn 15-6 in the first seven minutes of the second stanza, taking a 49-47 lead.  A lay-up by Daniel Nisbett (Michael J. Petrides / Staten Island, NY) and a free throw from Corey McFarlane (Transit Tech / Brooklyn, NY) put the Bridges back on top.  The home team would never again trail.  11 consecutive points were scored by BC, including six by Jean-Baptiste.  A McFarlane jumper with just under three minutes to play pushed the edge to 12 points,  while a pair of free throws in the last seconds contributed the final margin.

Brooklyn was led by Jean-Baptiste, the current CUNYAC / Con Edison Player of the Week,  who scored 25 points, notched a team-high nine boards, and collected six steals.  Nisbett added 16 points, while McFarlane contributed 13 points and five assists.

Kallai Sharpe (Edward R. Murrow / Brooklyn, NY) led Medgar with 22 points and 7 assists.

The Bridges will remain home on Saturday as they host CCNY at 3:00 pm in their final home game of the regular season.  Prior to the game, senior guard Corey McFarlane will be honored for his dedicated play for Brooklyn College.
