Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis Team (1-0) started their season on a winning note as they won their home opener on Thursday, 5-4 over SUNY Farmingdale (0-2)
Sophomore Johnny Rolando (Abraham Lincoln/Brooklyn, NY) was down triple match point in his #4 singles match, as he trailed 5-3 in the third and deciding set. He proceeded to come back from the 40-0 deficit and win the game and then the following three games to defeat Chris Genzmann (Massapequa/Massapequa, NY) 1-6, 6-0, 7-5.
Rolando's win gave Brooklyn a 4-2 advantage heading into doubles play as Elliot Hirsch (Yeshiva of Flatbush/Brooklyn, NY), Metin Noorata (Abraham Lincoln/Brooklyn, NY) and Cristobal Serrano Jr. (EBC Bushwick/Brooklyn, NY) each won their singles contests.
Arvind Badhey (Syosset/Syosset, NY) and Kristoffer Flores (St. Francis Prep/Ozone Park, NY) teamed up to defeat Ryan Hartman (Deer Park/Deer Park, NY) and Salin Rahimi at #3 doubles, 8-4, to clinch the victory for Brooklyn.
The win pushes BC's home winning streak to 6 matches, dating back from last season. The team will be off this weekend before they begin conference play on Tuesday, March 25th when they host Hunter College at 4:00 pm.
