Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Softball Team (2-4) got their first two wins of the season and for the career of first-year head coach Pete Grillo on Monday evening as they defeated the College of New Rochelle (0-2), 24-0, 13-2.
Senior pitcher Jaime Bellettini (Franklin K. Lane / Glendale, NY) pitched a complete game no-hitter in the first game as she struck out 10 in five innings of work. After a hit batsman, walk and catcher's interference loaded the bases in the first inning, Bellettini escaped the jam by with a pick-off and a strike out. Bellettini also contributed at the plate, going two for three with two runs batted in.
Freshman Ashley Allen (William C. Bryant / Sunnyside, NY) had the best game of her young career in game one, tripling twice, while driving in three and walking three times.
Jenna Ferrara (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) had a big day as well as she went a combined five for five in the two games while hitting her first round-tripper of the season. She also collected a pair of doubles and drove in three runs.
The Bridges offensive explosion also included home runs from Christina McDonnell (Staten Island Tech / Staten Island, NY), Nataly Yehezkel (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY), and Rohima Begum (Thomas Edison / Brooklyn, NY).
Brooklyn will remain home on Tuesday as they host conference opponent Baruch at 5:00 pm. The game will be played on campus at the Roosevelt Field.
