Softball Drops CUNYAC Game to Baruch

Box Score

Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Softball Team (2-5, 0-2 CUNYAC) dropped a 9-1 conference decision to Baruch College (11-6, 5-0 CUNYAC) on Tuesday afternoon.

Leftfielder Christina McDonnell (Staten Island Tech / Staten Island, NY) hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the first inning of Baruch starter Andrea Tepfer (Susan Wagner / Staten Island, NY).  The Bridges enjoyed that 1-0 lead until the third inning, when Bearcats catcher Idelissa Lluveres (Aquinas / Bronx, NY) singled home a run to knot the score.

The top of the fourth inning saw Baruch explode for eight  runs, as the Bridges committed four errors in the field.  Only three of the runs scored in that frame were earned, but the damage was done.

Brooklyn mounted a rally in the bottom of the fifth inning as they attempted to keep the game going.  Catcher Nicole Bianco (Franklin D. Roosevelt / Brooklyn, NY) drew a walk and pinch hitter Kaylin Taunton (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) singled, putting runners on first and second with only one out.  Tepfer then retired the next two hitters to secure the victory for Baruch.

Pitcher Jaime Bellettini (Franklin K. Lane / Glendale, NY) went the distance for the Bridges, allowing eight hits and recording four strikeouts.

The Bridges return to action on Wednesday April 2nd as they travel to CUNYAC rival York College for a doubleheader.  The first pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
