Brooklyn Knocks Off Purchase To Improve To 4-1

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis Team (4-1) defeated Purchase College (3-5) on Wednesday by a final score of 6-3.

Brooklyn opened the match by taking 2 out of 3 doubles matches.  Elliot Hirsch (Yeshiva of Flatbush/Brooklyn, NY) and Morris Dweck (Yeshiva of Flatbush/Brooklyn, NY) teamed up to defeat Purchase's #1 doubles pair of David Reisner (Horace Greeley/South Salem, NY) and Anthony Morano (Gorton/Yonkers, NY) 8-6.

Johnny Rolando (Abraham Lincoln/Brooklyn, NY) and Cristobal Serrano (EBC Bushwick/Brooklyn, NY) paired up at #3 doubles to knock off Christopher Arnet (Kenmore West/North Tonawanda, NY) and Nico Marceca (North Salem/North Salem, NY), also by an 8-6 score.

Purchase took #2 doubles by an 8-4 score as Matthew Kucker (James Madison/Brooklyn, NY) and Matthew Plen (Manchester/Manchester, CT) took down Ben Forberg (Marymount, Italy/Brooklyn, NY) and Metin Noorata (Abraham Lincoln/Brooklyn, NY).

Hirsch went on to cruise past Reisner at #1 singles, taking a 6-0, 6-2 decision.  Arvind Badhey (Syosset/Syosset, NY) stepped in to defeat Purchase's Alex Litsky (Mamaroneck/Larchmont, NY) at #6 singles, 6-2, 6-1.

Purchase stayed close as Plen defeated Noorata at #4 singles, 6-4, 6-4.

Dweck, the reigning CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, proceeded to knock off Morano at #3 singles, 6-3, 6-4, coming back from a deficit in the second set to capture the sweep.  Dweck's match clinched the victory for Brooklyn as they pulled ahead in matches won, 5-2.

Rolando then came up short in his #5 singles match versus the taller Morceca.  After winning the first set, 6-2, Rolando came up short in the following two sets, 6-3, 6-4.

In the final and longest match of the day, Brooklyn's Forberg defeated Kucker, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 at #2 singles.

Brooklyn will remain home on Friday as they take on CUNYAC opponent York College at 3:00 pm
