Box Score
Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis Team (11-3) had their four-match win streak snapped and their season abrubtly halted on Tuesday afternoon as they fell to Staten Island (4-10) in the first round of the CUNYAC Tournament.
With the score tied at four matches a piece, Brooklyn's Kristoffer Flores (St. Francis Prep / Ozone Park, NY) battled CSI's Robert Hargraves in a #6 singles match that seemed didn't seem as though it would ever end. With Hargraves taking the first set, 6-1, Flores got out to a 5-3 lead in the second before Hargraves battled back to force a tiebreaker.
Flores regained control of the set in the tiebreaker as he gained a 6-2 advantage, but then again Hargraves battled back to tie at 6, and then the two tied at 9 before Flores again took control and won 12-10, forcing a third set. Hargraves cruised in the final set, earning a 6-1 victory.
Morris Dweck (Yeshiva of Flatbush / Brooklyn, NY) and Johnny Rolando (Abraham Lincoln / Brooklyn, NY) each won their singles matches, as they each remained undefeated versus CUNYAC competition on the season.
While Brooklyn's first round exit was dissapointing, the team had a great season for the second consecutive season, going 11-3 and 7-1 in conference play.
