Bridges Fall in ECAC Opening Round

Box Score

Farmingdale, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Softball Team (13-14)  lost at SUNY Farmingdale (30-10) by a score of 11-0 in the opening round of the 2008 ECAC Metropolitan Softball Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.

This was the Bridge's first appearance in the ECAC tournament, and it comes on the heels of Brooklyn winning the CUNYAC East Division for a fourth consecutive season.

The Rams opened the game with a four run first inning and never looked back. Freshman pitcher Heather Buckshaw (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) got the win as she pitched a complete gamee, allowing no runs on just two hits while striking out eight.

The Bridges were paced by first baseman Kristen Corvino (Bishop Kearney / Brooklyn, NY), who singled to right-center breaking up Buckshaw's no-hit bid in the third.  Senior pitcher Jaime Bellettini (Franklin K. Lane / Glendale, NY) had a base hit in her final collegiate at bat and finished the season with a team-high .384 batting average.
