Staten Island, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer Team (3-3-1, 2-1-1 CUNYAC) faced a highly motivated John Jay (3-7, 1-4 CUNYAC) squad on Saturday afternoon and were unable to get on the scoreboard as they were shutout, 1-0.

Brooklyn had multiple opportunities in the last two minutes to tie the game, however John Jay goalkeeper Chris Adao(Colonia / Colonia, NJ) was able to hold the shutout intact as he made several saves at the end of the game.

Henrique Avellar (Julia Richman / Goiania, Brazil) scored the game's lone goal during the 23rd minute of the first half.  Avellar broke between two defenders and put the ball past Brooklyn keeper, Michael Conway (Xaverian / Brooklyn, NY).

The remainder of the game saw lots of physical play and some stalling tactics by John Jay in an attempt to seal the victory, their first conference win of the season. 

Brooklyn will host Purchase on Thursday, October 3rd at 4:00 pm in a non-conference affair.  The game will be played at Kingsborough Community College.
