New York, NY---In a battle of undefeated conference teams, the Brooklyn College Men's Basketball Team (14-4 / 7-1 CUNYAC) came up just short as they fell to Baruch (15-4 / 7-0 CUNYAC) on a controversial foul call with .3 seconds remaining in overtime.
After two free throws by Richard Jean-Baptsite (St. John's Prep / Queens, NY) tied the game at 78 with 11 seconds to go, Brooklyn seemingly came up with the stop they needed to send the game to overtime, however a late whistle with .3 on the clock sent Mike Dietz (Archbishop Molloy / Middle VIllage, NY) to the line for two free throws. Dietz converted on the first, giving Baruch the 1 point win.
Baptiste, who was called for the foul on Dietz, fouled out while leading all scorers with 33 points and dishing out a team-high 6 assists.
Thomas Guerin (St. Edmund Prep / Brooklyn, NY) and Amil John (South Shore / Brooklyn, NY) each scored 10 points in the loss.
Brooklyn will look to come back home on Tuesday January 27th as they take on borough rival St. Joseph's College at 7:30 pm.
